Afghanistan/ Sharp Increase in Attacks
Solution: More Troops Or Complete Withdrawal?
Apart from several minor attacks the Taliban has hit hard on Afghan Forces/US-Coalition hard since beginning of 2017, in spite of the winter season, e.g. :
JAN 10, 2017 - Kabul & Lashkar Gāh, Helmand, Fatalities: 64
JAN 21, 2017 - Kandahar, Fatalities: 43
MAR 1, 2017 - Kabul, Fatalities: 22
APR 21, 2017 - Mazār-e Sharīf, Balkh, Fatalities: 256
This surge in Taliban Attacks depicts their renewed fervor against the occupying forces & stamps the fact that Taliban will not negotiate on slippery terms offered by Kabul/US
On the other hand, ISIS, which did not exist in Afghanistan as of last year, has been planted by US/India in a bid to create an internal enemy for the Taliban plus to create an excuse to bomb more Afghan civilians & Taliban areas calling them ISIS area
In addition several attacks have been orchestrated by Special Ops. That have been claimed by ISSI. This will create more ideological space for ISIS, will attract more volunteers to this group and will legitimize prolonged US stay in Afghanistan – also giving it the reason to call in more troops
ISIS Attacks 2017
JAN 10- Kandahar, Fatalities: 12
Feb 11, Location: Helmand, Khorasan, Fatalities: 12
MAR 8 - Kabul, Sardar Daud Khan Military Hospital, Fatalities: 100
APR 12 - Kabul, Fatalities: 5
APR 24 - Khost, Fatalities: 4
MAY 3 - Kabul, Fatalities: 8
Game Plan of the US seems to be, not quit & tire out the Taliban with a long-war of medium intensity. The question is, who will exhaust the other first! Will US high-tech Special Forces wear-out Taliban spirit for freedom and self-determination OR will Taliban steadfastness make the world biggest military machine abscond?
