Russia and Egypt approve draft deal for its warplanes to use Egyptian military bases – Russian fighter jets, bombers, airborne radar pickets and military transport planes will use Egyptian bases
March this year, US officials alleged that Russia had deployed special forces in Egypt near its border with Libya
In the passing years Russia has grown ties with Tobruk govt. under Khalifa Haftar (Gaddafi’s General), who held talks with Shoigu, Russian defense minister, via video link from a Russian aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean this year and visited Moscow
If this happens the strong Middle East alliance between Saudi Arabia, Jordan & Egypt alliance would be weakened
The US bid to return in Syria & the latest threats by Saudi Arabia and Israel on Lebanon would be hampered
In short, the equation of US/Saudi Arabia alliance in the Middle East would be severely damaged & Hezbollah foothold would strengthen in Lebanon
