Iran US Tensions Mounting
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a statement on May 8, listing the US administration’s successes in putting pressure on Iran Washington remains committed to block Iran’s “paths to a nuclear weapon US policy as a “maximum pressure” approach to Iran.
This happened the same day after Iran’s announcement on May 8 that it is “gradually” reducing its commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal and giving a deadline to other world powers to help neutralize US sanctions.

Several European countries, such as Germany, France and the UK, have been hesitant to side with Washington in withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the nuclear deal signed with Iran in 2015 to freeze its nuclear program.
