There is no question in condemning Boko Haram with the severest condemnation. However, the mainstream media’s insistence of sweeping Islam with the works of Boko Haram is just as condemnable.
But they do serve the purpose of upholding the terror of a Superpower that has otherwise lost its credibility in the eyes of the rich and the poor nations alike.
Between sweet words and a lot of self-aggrandizement of America’s leadership role in the world, Obama made clear that the US will unilaterally pursue its interest.
It is easy to understand that a nation that had been fighting for several decades, first against the Turks and then against the French for independence, self-determination and for an Islamic Arabism – that it would never be happy under a minority control – a minority of heterodox Muslims, that many Sunni Arabs did not even accept to be an authentic form of Islam – many Syrian Sunnis regard the Alawite as a sect more heretical than the Jews.
It does seem to be a sarcastic guess, but the most plausible Universal Truth seems to be ‘Terror’ and its brand name - Al Qaeda. For many the story of Al Qaeda starts with Osama Bin Laden’s arrival in Peshawar, Pakistan, sometimes between 1988 and 1989. But it would really be a waste to try to comprehend Truth without going a little back into history.
